  L-DOPA is a naturally occurring dietary supplement and psychoactive drug found  in certain kinds of food and herbs (e.g., Mucuna pruriens, or velvet bean), and is synthesized  from the amino acid L-tyrosine in the mammalian body and brain. LDOPA is the precursor to  the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and epinephrine (adrenaline)  collectively known as catecholamines. Aside from its natural and essential biological role,  L-DOPA is also used in the clinical treatment of Parkinson's disease and dopamine-responsive  dystonia. When used in a pharmaceutical context, the INN designation 'levodopa' is normally used.   [Effects]: 1.Pharmacologic treatment of Parkinson disease; 2.Promoting paradoxical sleep; 3.Reducing fat and increasing bone density; 4.Strengthening muscle power and sexual performance; 5.Hair coloring.

Mucuna pruriens extract contains levodopa (L-dopa), which is used to treat Parkinson's  disease. L-dopa is changed to the chemical dopamine in the brain. Symptoms of Parkinson's  disease occur in patients due to low levels of dopamine in the brain. Unfortunately, most L-dopa is broken down in the body before it ever reaches the brain unless special chemicals  are used with levodopa. These chemicals are not present in Mucuna pruriens extract. L-DOPA from mucuna pruriens has been shown to be safer and more effective for controlling  Parkinson's disease than the pharmaceutical drugs Levodopa and Carbidopa. This is because  the vast array of other chemical constituents that accompany L-DOPA in the unprocessed  plant also play a role in its ability to manage Parkinson's disease.     Packaging & Shipping
